After 18 months, a team of more than 4,500 people has managed to complete successfully one of the most impactful projects for Lima.
The Linea Amarilla project was awarded to GyM, Graña y Montero’s construction company, in October 2016. The undertaking soon proved to be a great challenge to the team due to the tight deadlines set by the client, Vinci Highways. Still, GyM’s team was able to meet the client’s expectations and, today, June 15th, 2018, it has delivered the works and Linea Amarilla is ready for operation.
The infrastructure built under Linea Amarilla makes it a unique and groundbreaking project in Peru. It includes elevated viaducts, underground viaducts and underpasses, as well as the longest tunnel in Lima, a two-kilometer tunnel beneath the Rimac River. It also has four lanes, side roads for emergencies, a firefighting system, and a seismic design.
Linea Amarilla will connect 11 districts of Lima, carrying 139,000 vehicles from Ate to Callao in just 20 minutes.
